The Kreissparkasse Stade (county-bank) bought the villa in 1995, that was build by Landrat Alexander von der Schulenburg, from the agriculturist Johan G.D. von Issendorff. Once the extensive renovation work was over, it opened for all citizen as cultural center and is home of the local library
The culture-circle Himmelpforten has its office in the villa and has made it its mission to enrich the cultural scene in Himmelpforten. It has the use of a lecture hall which seats 70 persons and among other things the hall is used for exhibitations of paintings. The whole ground-floor is used every year for the arts and crafts market.
The family von Issendorff's former dining room has been transformed into a historic marriage room which makes a wedding in a unique ambiente possible.
